This page outlines the editorial standards and practices that govern all content published on MedNewsNow. These policies apply to all staff writers, contributing editors, and freelance contributors.

Source Standards

All factual claims in clinical and research articles must be sourced to at minimum one of the following: peer-reviewed journal articles (preferably indexed in PubMed), official regulatory agency announcements (FDA, EMA, WHO), or statements from primary investigators speaking on the record. We do not accept press releases as sole sources for clinical claims.

When covering preprint research (not yet peer-reviewed), we clearly label it as such and note limitations. We do not cover preprints for highly consequential health claims without corroborating expert review.

Peer Review & Medical Review

All articles covering clinical research, drug approvals, or treatment recommendations are reviewed by at least one physician or PhD scientist with relevant specialty expertise before publication. Reviewer names and credentials are disclosed on complex or controversial articles.

Conflict of Interest Policy

All contributors must disclose potential conflicts of interest including pharmaceutical company consultancies, speaking fees, research funding, and stock ownership. Disclosures are published at the bottom of relevant articles. Editors with conflicts of interest are recused from related editorial decisions.

Corrections Policy

Corrections are published as soon as errors are identified. The original error and the correction are both noted transparently within the article. We never silently alter published content. Significant corrections are noted at the top of the article with a clear correction notice.

Independence

Editorial decisions at MedNewsNow are made exclusively by editorial staff. Advertisers have no influence over article selection, framing, or conclusions. Sponsored content is clearly labeled “Sponsored” and is produced by a separate commercial content team with no involvement from the editorial newsroom.

Diversity & Inclusion in Science Coverage

We actively seek expert sources who reflect the diversity of the medical profession and patient communities. We note when clinical trials lack diversity in their enrolled populations and address the implications for generalizability.
